According to a report by Reuters published on 31 August, the top four Chinese tech firms, most importantly Baidu and SenseTime Group, released their AI (Artificial intelligence) chatbots to the people of China because they got approval from the Chinese government.
The government of China planned to be in competition with the United States for products like AI chatbots. China’s leading online search engine Baidu confirmed in a statement that the Chinese people can freely use ChatGPT like Chatbot and Ernie Bot.
The spokesperson of SenseTime has also confirmed that their chatbot and SenseChat are also ready to serve the common people of China – according to Reuters reports.
On Thursday two other tech start-ups in China Baichuan Intelligent Technology and Zhipu AI also confirmed their chatbot availability to the common Chinese people. This news caused a high jump in tech shares in the stock market. Baidu gained 3.1% and SenseTime gained 2.7% in the market.
